PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a process method of punching and embedding a conductive matter on the surface of a metal separator member in a low-cost blasting process after a molding process in a complicated shape at high productivity with the use of a raw material with high workability in order to attain low cost and mass production in manufacturing a metal separator for a solid polymer fuel cell with stainless steel, titanium, or titanium alloy. PSOLUTION: The separator for solid polymer fuel cell made of stainless steel, titanium, or a titanium alloy has a low-ion elution conductive matter embedded on the surface of stainless steel, titanium, or a titanium alloy, with an arithmetic average roughness (Ra) of 0.5 to 5.0 m, a ten-point average roughness (Rz) of 3 to 20 m, an average interval (Sm) of a ruggedness of 300 m or less at the surface of the separator, with each value of a warping ratio and a twist ratio of the separator of 0.1 or less, and a contact resistance value against carbon paper of 15 mcmSP2/SPor less at a face pressure of 0.1 MPa.
