PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing a platinum colloid-supporting zeolite useful as a material for an electrode catalyst for a fuel cell. PSOLUTION: In the method for preparing a platinum colloid-supporting zeolite, a platinum colloid having an average particle size of 1-100 nm is supported by zeolite in the presence of Pt or Au ions. The Pt or Au ions in an amount of 5-90 pts.wt. in terms of metallic element are added to a zeolite suspension (100 pts.wt. solid zeolite) and mixed at 15-40C, the mixture is loaded with the platinum colloid having an average particle size of 1-100 nm, in an amount of 10-120 pts.wt. in terms of metallic element, and mixed at 15-40C.
