PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To project accurate projection images without geometrical distortions by detecting an observation point of an observer and a shape of a projection face, and changing the video image providing position, depending on the observation point. PSOLUTION: An observation position tracking type video image providing apparatus includes a video image input means 4 for inputting a projection image to a projector 1; an observation point detection means 5, regarding the position at which the observer observes a projected projection image as the observation point and detecting the observation point from a second imaged image; a projection screen shape measurement means 5 that measures the three-dimensional shape of the projection screen on the basis of a correspondence pattern projection-output to the projection screen by the projector 1, a correspondence point between the projector 1 and a first imaging apparatus, an internal parameter and an external parameter of the projector 1 and an internal parameter and an external parameter of the first imaging apparatus, which are given, in advance; and a video image correction means 7 that applies geometrical conversion to the projection image, by using the observation point and the three-dimensional shape of the measured projection screen, to thereby generate a correction video image image.
