PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method and apparatus for reducing noise amplification and ringing in an iterative solution or a wavelet decomposition, and reducing motion blur in an image.;SOLUTION: The method for reducing motion blur in a motion blur image includes blurring an estimated image as a blur parameter function of the motion blur image based on the motion blur image. An error image is generated by comparing the estimated blurred image with the motion blur image. Blurring the error image, a regularized image is formed based on an edge in the estimated image. Combining the error image, the regularized image, and the estimated image, the estimated image is updated and the motion blur is corrected.
