PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interleukin-6 production inhibitor for effectively inhibiting the excessive production of the interleukin-6 originated from epidermal cells, which is caused by irradiation with ultraviolet rays, and to provide a skin hypertrophy inhibitor containing the same as an active ingredient.;SOLUTION: This interleukin-6 production inhibitor for inhibiting the excessive production of the interleukin-6 derived from the epidermal cells, which is caused by the irradiation with ultraviolet rays, is characterized by containing a catechin compound as an active ingredient. The catechin compound is preferably one or more kind selected from epigallocatechin gallate, (+)-catechin, epicatechin and epigallocatechin. Further, the skin hypertrophy inhibitor contains the interleukin-6 production inhibitor as an active ingredient. The interleukin-6 production inhibitor can be used for cosmetics, medicines and the like for inhibiting the excessive production of the interleukin-6 derived from the epidermal cells, which is caused by the irradiation with ultraviolet rays.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
