PSOLUTION: This invention acquires a B1 magnetic field map for each transmission coil (72) of a parallel RF transmission coil array (70), and determines using a computational algorithm an excitation pulse scheme for a target excitation profile based on an effective B1 magnetic field map for a plurality of the transmission coils (72) of the parallel RF transmission coil array (70), and generates SAR-reduced RF pulse sequence for a respective transmission coil of a plurality of the transmission coils (72) of the parallel RF transmission coil array (70). The parallel RF transmission coil array (70) is capable of having any parallel RF transmission coil array geometry.
