PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for improving the affinity of a solvent to the surface of a sparingly soluble or insoluble substance and to provide a formed article containing a sparingly soluble or insoluble substance by using a solution of the sparingly soluble or insoluble substance. PSOLUTION: The method for improving the affinity of the surface of a substance to a solvent contains a step to contact the surface of the substance with a water-soluble xylan and its solvent. The substance is sparingly soluble or insoluble in the solvent in the absence of the water-soluble xylan. The invention further relates to a solution containing the water-soluble xylan, the substance and the solvent added to the solution, wherein the substance is sparingly soluble or insoluble in the solvent in the absence of the water-soluble xylan, and a formed article containing the added water-soluble xylan and the sparingly soluble substance.
