PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a macromolecule dispersion type liquid crystal display element which has a low driving voltage and superior long-period reliability and, especially, is suitably used for active driving with the low driving voltage without a decrease in voltage holding rate, a decrease in N-I transition point, and image persistence.;SOLUTION: The macromolecule dispersion type liquid crystal display element is characterized in that a dimming layer made substantially of a liquid crystal composition and a macromolecular substance is charged between a pair of opposite substrates having at least an electrode layer and the rate of the area of liquid crystal composition part and the area of macromolecular substance part on the interface of the dimming layer which comes into contact with the substrate satisfies an expression (1) (where SLC represents the total area of liquid crystal part and SPL represent the total area of macromolecular substance part).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
