PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data retrieval system by which a data retrieval result with high freshness is constantly obtained. PSOLUTION: A data retrieval part 12 of a data retrieval device 10 acquires metadata which satisfy retrieval conditions, from a data storage part 11 according to a retrieval request including the retrieval conditions specified by an application 16 for retrieving data, and instructs an external communication part 15 to request data retrieval on the same retrieval conditions also to a data providing device 20. Data (actual data, metadata) replied from the data providing device 20 as a data retrieval result is compared with the metadata acquired from the data storage part 11, and when mismatching is determined because the metadata acquired from the data providing device 20 are updated by update (version up) and deletion, etc., the existing metadata in the data storage part 11 are updated with the metadata acquired from the data providing device 20.
