PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the performance of an incorrect failure diagnosis by failure of the latch function, in a failure diagnostic device for diagnosing failure of an igniter by detecting ignition output by the latch function.;SOLUTION: This failure diagnostic device acquires an ignition output signal from a poet level of input-output interface, while performing a latch of the ignition output signal by a latch circuit. After starting the ignition output, its port level acquired in the timing when the latch circuit latches the ignition output signal, is compared with an output signal by the latch circuit. When these are mutually different, it is basically diagnosed as failure of the latch function. When the ignition output signal is not detected even by the port level, it is diagnosed as failure of the igniter.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
