PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite particle containing a zinc-containing compound such as zinc oxide and a noble metal such as platinum, and a method of its processing. PSOLUTION: This composite particle 34 is manufactured by bringing a zinc-containing particle into contact with a pH-controlled noble metal 38 solution. The zinc-containing compound 36 is a depleted zinc oxide. The noble metal 38 is selected from the group consisting of platinum, rhodium, ruthenium, palladium, osmium, and iridium.
