PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling the germination and growth of Petalonia binghamiae and maintaining Petalonia binghamiae as a stock strain in a filamentous body or a disk-like body as it is.;SOLUTION: A suspension having a density of ≥150 gametes/mL of Petalonia binghamiae is prepared and preserved in seawater or a medium from which phosphorus or nitrogen is removed so that the gametes are preserved. A PESI medium is preferably used as the medium. In order to germinate the gametes thus preserved, a specific medium (e.g. a medium having ≥100μmol/L nitrogen concentration, ≥5μmol/L phosphorus concentration and the concentration ratio of nitrogen to phosphorus of 2:1-200:1) or a suspension having ≤30 gametes/mL concentration is prepared.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
