PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an idle rotation speed control method ensuring a move of a vehicle, even when the car is moved from an idle state immediately after a cold start at high altitudes.;SOLUTION: An engine controller (11) includes: a target idle rotation speed base value computation procedure for computing a target idle rotation speed base value according to a driving condition; a reserve drive torque characteristics generation procedure for generating reserve drive torque characteristics of the idle rotation speed according to an environmental condition upon an engine start; a determining procedure for determining whether or not an actual rotation speed is insufficient for ensuring the move of the vehicle, when the vehicle is moved in a state where the actual rotation speed keeps the target idle rotation speed base value, based on the generated reserve drive torque characteristics; and a target idle rotation speed acceleration procedure for accelerating the target idle rotation speed from the target idle rotation speed basic value until a necessary reserve drive torque is ensured, when it is determined that the actual rotation speed is insufficient for ensuring the move of the vehicle.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
