PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economically efficient channel capable of preventing the safe and comfortable environment for natural life forms from being damaged by an artificial channel, because small animals are often drowned to death on the ground that a method, in which the small animal falling into the channel gets out of the channel, does not exist due to the high flow velocity of a conventional channel with three sides subjected to concrete-block pitching.;SOLUTION: In this channel, the cross section of the channel is locally enlarged, and a trapezoidal ramp descending toward an upstream from a downstream is installed there. After a water level is temporarily lowered by the effect of enlarging the cross section, water flows on the ramp in such a manner that the water level is raised because the ramp is a hindrance to the cross section. A rise in the water level makes the water gradually collected into a recess on the lateral side of the ramp so as to flow down. In this case, the small animals, which are pushed up onto the ramp by the force of flowing water, are saved by the cross slope of the ramp and left on the upper section of the ramp, so as to be capable of getting out of the channel in safety.
