GENERATING METHOD FOR ROUTE MAP DATA, ROUTE MAP DATA UPDATE SYSTEM, AND ROUTE MAP DATA MANAGEMENT DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently update map data.;SOLUTION: A navigation device has map data (road map data) generated while the whole country is sectioned by areas. Each of map data in area units has a node table and a link table representing connection relations among roads in the area and a connection table. In the connection table, connection numbers are associated with identification numbers (link or node IDs) of respective roads connected to roads in adjacent areas. In the present invention, connection relations of roads between adjacent areas are represented by allocating identical connection numbers to respective roads connected to each other between the adjacent areas. Therefore, even when the identification number of a road connected to a road in another area is changed during update of the map data, the connection relations between roads connected between adjacent areas can be maintained by correcting the connection table and the updating operation can be completed without modifying map data in other areas at all.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
