PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively collect the attribute information of a road with respect to the road shape such as road width and road grade even of small and medium sized roads.;SOLUTION: An on-vehicle measuring instrument 11 mounted on a probe car comprises a GPS receiver 12 for detecting the position of the probe car, a laser ranging sensor 13 for measuring the distance to things at the right and left of the probe car and to the road surface obliquely downward in front and in rear of the probe car, a camera 14 for picking up the scenery around the probe car, etc., and records the distance information measured by the laser ranging sensor 13 and the scenery information picked up by the camera 14 in a measured information storage device 20.
