PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogenation method which uses a diaphragm type hydrogenation catalyst and efficiently advances hydrogenation reaction using a liquid phase raw material, and an apparatus and a catalyst for carrying out the hydrogenation method.;SOLUTION: This hydrogenation method comprises hydrogenating a raw material to be hydrogenated in a liquid phase in the presence of a diaphragm type catalyst having a porous body supporting a metal having hydrogenation capacity and a hydrogen permeable metal film formed on one side of the porous body. This diaphragm type catalyst has a supporting amount of the metal having hydrogenation capacity, measured by X-ray fluorescence analysis, of 2 wt.% or more in the domain of the distance in the thickness direction from the contact surface between the porous body and the hydrogen permeable metal film up to 15% of the thickness of the porous body.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
