PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an observation device which enables high-speed measurement, and also to provide an observation method.;SOLUTION: A first side surface is provided to the observation device which keeps a liquid crystal modulation element controlled so that right-handed circular polarized light and a left-handed circular polarized light are selectively formed by the liquid crystal modulation element thereby observing a sample by the light penetrating through a polarizer. Another side surface is provided to an observation method having a process for controlling the liquid crystal modulation element so that the right-hand circular polarized light and left-handed circular polarized light are selectively formed by the liquid crystal modulation element when the sample is observed by the light penetrating through the polarizer in a state that a light path is set so that light successively penetrates through the polarizer and the liquid crystal modulation element and a process for respectively forming the optical data of the sample corresponding to a right-handed circular polarization state and a left-handed circular polarization state formed by the liquid crystal modulation element.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
