PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dryer for leaf tobacco, suitable for drying the leaf tobacco of flue-cured var, which is mainly dried with hot air, improving quality of appearance and properties of finish of dried leaves, stabilizing control of the drying operation and improving the fuel consumption with excellent energy saving effects and to provide a method for drying the leaf tobacco.;SOLUTION: The dryer is equipped with an air suction port 10, a blower 8, a furnace 6, a hot air generator 2 provided with a hot air blowoff port 11 in the lower part and a drying chamber 3 for blowing up the hot air blown from the hot air blowoff port 11 in the lower part and drying the leaf tobacco hung in the interior.
