PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a steel wire for heat resistant spring with which the cost increase of SUS304, SUS316 and the like is suppressed and excellent in settling resistance even in a high temperature region (350 to 500°C), a heat resistant spring, and to provide a method for manufacturing the heat resistant spring. ;SOLUTION: The stainless steel wire for heat resistant spring has a composition consisting of by weight 0.02-1.00% C, 0.02-1.00% N, 0.02-2.0% Mn, 12-25% Cr, 8.0-15.0% Ni, 0.1-4.0% Mo, at least one selected from the group consisting of 0.1-3.0% Nb, 1.0-3.5% Si, 0.1-2.0% Ti, and 0.1-4.0% W, and the balance essentially Fe with inevitable impurities and satisfying 0.15%≤C+N≤1.00%. This steel wire has (1300 to 2000) N/mm2 tensile strength before low temperature annealing.
