PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earthquake resisting structure and an earthquake resisting connecting device designed to improve the earthquake resistance in a brace portion by a viscoelastic member. ;SOLUTION: The earthquake resisting structure has the first diagonal point connecting member R connecting the first diagonal points a1 and a2 of a square space U formed of parallel members P and Q, and the second diagonal point connecting member S connecting the second diagonal points b1 and b2. The first diagonal point connecting member R and the second diagonal point connecting member S are connected viscoelastically by interposing directly of indirectly a viscoelastic member 50 having viscoelasticity in the point T where the first diagonal point connecting member R crosses and faces the second diagonal portion connecting member S. To interpose indirectly, the viscoelastic member 50 is arranged between facing hardware 62 pivoted slidably to mounting hardware 61 of a U-shaped cross section. The viscoelastic member 50 may be arranged between the mounting hardware 61 alone or between facing hardware 62 alone. A set of the mounting hardware 61, the facing hardware 62 and the viscoelastic member 50 is made an earthquake resisting connecting device 50X.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
