PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface inspection method of a stainless steel sheet for suitably discriminating between spills and a brush pattern even in a stainless steel sheet having the brush pattern to detect both of the spills and the brush pattern, and to provide a surface inspection device for the stainless steel sheet.;SOLUTION: The surface inspection device 10 of the stainless steel sheet is equipped with a light source 1 for projecting inspection light 80 on the surface of the stainless steel sheet 100 having the brush pattern 90, a regular reflection camera 2 for receiving the regular reflection component 60 in the reflected light from the surface of the stainless steel sheet 100 on which light is projected from the light source 1, an irregular reflection camera 3 for receiving the irregular reflection component 70 in the reflected light and a processor 4. The processor 4 is equipped with a spill flaw detecting means for detecting the presence of a spill flaw 95 on the basis of the gray value of the regular reflection component 60 received by the regular reflection camera 2 and a brush pattern discriminating means for discriminating the degree of the brush pattern 90 on the basis of the gray value of the irregular reflection component 70 received by the irregular reflection camera 3.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
