PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distance calculating apparatus, a distance calculating method, a structure analyzing apparatus and a structure analyzing method, which easily calculate a distance from a subject by using a pair of spherical images.;SOLUTION: The structure analyzing apparatus 100 comprises: first and second camera sections 11l, 11r; a longitude-latitude image forming section 25 for forming longitude-latitude images 6l, 6r which are planar images deployed such that a pair of epi-poles are used as both poles in the spherical images 3l, 3r matching to subject images 2l, 2r output from respective cameras, based on the subject images 2l, 2r; a matching point locating section 26 for specifying a matching point in each longitude-latitude image, which matches to a point P on a real space; and a distance calculating means 27 for calculating distances ρ_l, ρ_r from the camera sections 11l, 11r based on a first angle θ_l which is defined by the first matching point p_l on the spherical image 3l and a straight line R2 passing through centers O_l, O_r of the spherical images 3l, 3r, a second angle θ_r which is defined by the second matching point p_r on the spherical image 3r and the straight line R2, and the point P which is defined by the distance b_s between the camera sections.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
