PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new mouse having a gene spontaneously developing type-2 diabetes.;SOLUTION: The type-2 diabetes model mouse is characterized by having a causative gene in a hetero or homo state with the properties(1) to (3) described below, wherein these properties represent autosomal recessive genetic character. (1) With postnatal 10-14 week-old, being hyperglycemic compared to normal-strain mouse, and in a state with postnatal 10-14 week-old or older, being 2.5% in blood saccharified hemoglobin levels, (2) with postnatal 10-14 week-old, being positive in urinary sugar, and (3) with no insulitis being substantially recognized, and blood insulin levels being equivalent to or higher than those of normal-strain mouse.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
