PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost cloth edge for a tatami mat and a tatami mat refacing method using the cloth edge which can be carried out easily and efficiently by an inexperienced person.;SOLUTION: This tatami mat refacing method comprises a first process in which a new tatami facing 12 or an existing tatami facing with its face down is placed on a tatami backing 11 at the upper front side 15 of the tatami mat, a cloth edge 19 is placed on the tatami facing 12, and a wrapped sheet 23 of the cloth edge 19 is caught to the bottom surface of the tatami backing 11 and adhered and fixed to the bottom surface of the tatami backing 11 with an adhesive layer 24; and a second process in which a protruded portion of the tatami facing 12 at the lower front side 16 of the tatami mat is cut off, the cloth edge 19 together with the tatami facing 12 is bonded to the tatami backing 11, and the wrapped sheet 23 of the cloth edge 19 is caught to the bottom surface of the tatami backing and adhered with an adhesive layer 24 to the bottom surface of the tatami backing 11, thereby fixing the sheet 23 to the bottom surface of the tatami backing 11.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
