PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a humidity-controlling building material obtained by curing a mixture of an allophane- or imogolite-containing composition and calcium hydroxide, and its manufacturing process.;SOLUTION: The humidity-controlling material is made of a carbonized, cured product obtained by mixing the allophane- or imogolite-containing composition, a calcium hydroxide hardener and, if required, water, molding the mixture and curing the molded product by carbonizing it with a carbon dioxide-containing gas. In a manufacturing process of the humidity-controlling material, 10-90 pts.wt. allophane- or imogolite-containing composition is mixed with 90-10 pts.wt. calcium hydroxide. The allophane- or imogolite-based humidity-controlling building material is manufactured through this process and shows a higher strength and larger moisture absorbing/ releasing properties compared to those of the conventional ones.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
