PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rod-shaped light guide of which a peak of spatial light intensity distribution in sub scanning direction can be conformed to a reading image surface and the lighting device incorporating it. PSOLUTION: Since a light scattering pattern 13 is formed near a focal position when assuming that a curved surface 12 is a concave mirror, the light scattering pattern 13 emitted from a plane 11 is focused on a given point. If a setting is performed so that an image-formation position is conformed to a reading image surface 16, a scattered light from the light scattering pattern 13 is input to the reading image surface 16 without futility and a spatial light intensity distribution in sub scanning direction can be made uniform.
