PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it easy to handle printed matter manufactured by using paticulaly plain paper by sufficiently restraining the curling of a recording object.;SOLUTION: The coating liquid for a printing medium containing water and a water-soluble organic compound with water retention characteristics, is composed of only the water-soluble organic compound showing the difference of not higher than 36% between the moisture retaining strength under the environment of 23C temperature and 45% humidity and the moisture retaining strength in the environment of 30C temperature and 80% humidity. In addition, the coating liquid has the content of the water-soluble organic compound equivalent to not lower than 15 mass% to the whole amount of the coating liquid for the printing medium. The ink for inkjet contains a coloring material, water and the water-soluble organic compound with water retention characteristics and is constituted of only the water-soluble organic compound which shows the difference of not higher than 36% between the moisture retaining strength in the environment of 23C temperature and 45% humidity and the moisture retaining strength in the environment of 30C temperature and 80% humidity.
