PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically purvey an application and/or preference for pervasive computing system even without individually selecting it by a user. ;SOLUTION: An environment list related to a pervasive computing system (such as PDA 22, for example,) is defined and an information item to be purveyed to the PDA 22 by a data processing system (such as server 20, for example), is related with an environment on the environment list so that the PDA 22 can be synchronized with the server 20. The PDA 22 acquires a user entry for selecting one environment and reports the selected environment to the server 20.
