PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical external cavity surface light emitting laser with high efficiency.;SOLUTION: There is provided a vertical external cavity surface light emitting laser (20) comprising: a laser chip (21) for generating a laser beam having a prescribed wavelength; a first etalon filter layer (23) formed on the laser chip; a second etalon filter layer (25) formed on the first etalon filter layer having a refractive index different from the refractive index of the first etalon filter layer; a first mirror (32) disposed obliquely to a surface formed with the first etalon filter of the laser chip at a fixed distance from this surface; a second mirror (34) whereby the laser beam reflected from the first mirror is reflected by the first mirror again and forming a resonator together with the laser chip; and a second harmonic generation crystal (33) disposed on a light path between the first mirror and the second mirror, whereby a frequency of the laser beam emitted from the laser chip is converted into a double frequency.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
