PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a binder resin for toner for electrostatic image development which can be obtained by direct polycondensation at a low temperature, and to provide toner for electrostatic image development having excellent pulverization property and powder fluidity and having high image quality by applying the binder resin to the manufacturing process of the toner for electrostatic image development, such as a pulverizing process or a coagulation integration process. PSOLUTION: The binder resin for toner for electrostatic image development is obtained by a polycondensation reaction of a polycarboxylic acid and a polyol, wherein 50-100 mol% of the polycarboxylic acid comprises a specific compound containing an aromatic hydrocarbon group or an alicyclic hydrocarbon group, 50-100 mol% of the polyol comprises a specific compound containing a bisphenol skeleton group, and a metal element originating in a catalyst is contained in the resin in an amount of 100 ppm.
