PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polypeptide having voltage-dependent proton channel characteristics, to provide a polynucleotide encoding the polypeptide, to provide an oligonucleotide comprising a fragment of the polynucleotide, to provide a recombinant vector and a transformed cell each containing the polynucleotide, and to provide a kit containing the recombinant vector. PSOLUTION: This polypeptide related to the present invention is a polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence represented by sequence No. 1, and has voltage-dependent proton channel characteristics. This polypeptide has four transmembrane sites, and has homology only with S1 to S4 potential sensor portions of conventional known potential-dependent ion channels.
