PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pH dependent ion exchange material having selectively higher binding force to nucleic acids than to proteins, a solid substrate with the ion exchange material immobilized thereon, and a method for isolating a nucleic acid using the material and the solid substrate. PSOLUTION: This pH dependent ion exchange material comprises a constitutional unit derived from at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of chemical formulae MO, M1, M2, and M3 and at least one constitutional unit derived from A-containing monomer and B-containing monomer and has a degree of polymerization of 2 to 30,000.
