PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective technique to reasonably carrying out the cleaning of an air type actuator in waste water treatment equipment having a treatment vessel for receiving and treating waste water, the air type actuator and an air supply means for supplying working air to the air type actuator. PSOLUTION: An air diffusion apparatus 35 mounted in a carrier flow biofiltration vessel 30 constituting the waste water treatment vessel 1 is worked by supplying the prescribed volume of air through a blower 80 and is used for carrying out the aerobic treatment and the filtration in the carrier flow biofiltration vessel 30. The blower 80 is of an air volume variable type and the volume of air larger than that in a normal process is supplied to the air diffusion apparatus 35 in a cleaning process for cleaning a diffusion pipe 35a. As a result, the deposit.sticking material deposited on the air diffusion pipe 35a is blown off or the deposition.sticking itself of the deposit.sticking material is prevented to reasonably clean the diffusion pipe 35a.
