PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow the hardware and software of simpler coding/decoding to receive closed caption information.;SOLUTION: In this method, MPEG compression video data including data such as of closed caption is received into the user data of MPEG image header. The MPEG image header in received MPEG compression video data is detected, and the data such as of the closed caption are extracted from the user data field in it. The MPEG compression video data is decoded to generate decompressed analog video signals, and data such as the decompressed analog video signals and the extracted closed caption are combined, and it is output to a display.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
