PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To freely and easily set the retransmission parameter of every mail on the side of a user in an electronic mail system having the retransmitting function of mail. ;SOLUTION: At a client 1, the user sets the parameter of a retransmitting method for the unit of mail through a retransmission parameter setting means 1a. Then, a mail transmitting means 1b transmits the mail, to which the set parameter is added as one of attribute data, to the side of a server 2. The retransmission parameter of this once transmitted mail can be changed by a parameter changing means 1c, and the changed parameter is transmitted to the side of the server 2 by a changed parameter transmitting means 1d. On the side of the server 2, corresponding to a command from a distribution managing means 2b, a distributing means 2c distributes the mail. When the mail is not accepted at the distribution destination because of any reason after distribution, according to retransmission time or number of times for retransmission set for every mail, the retransmitting processing of every mail is performed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
