PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing magnesium chloride anhydride having high purity, particularly having an extremely small amount of ammonia mixed, and particularly suitable as a catalyst carrier for polymerization of olefins, and to provide an extracting apparatus for fused magnesium chloride to be used for the above manufacture.;SOLUTION: The apparatus is equipped with a reducing furnace to reduce titanium tetrachloride and metal magnesium, a plurality of vessels to extract and house magnesium chloride in a fused state produced in the reducing furnace, and an extracting pipe the one end of which is connected to the reducing furnace and the other end of which is placed at the upper opening of the first vessel in the most upstream side. The plurality of vessels are installed in such a manner that a vessel in the downstream side is at a lower position than the vessel in the nearest and upstream side and that all vessels are connected with overflow pipes. The fused magnesium chloride extracted in each vessel is solidified, disintegrated and then pulverized to obtain magnesium chloride anhydride.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
