PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately measure gamma rays to determine a uranium amount in a fuel compact. PSOLUTION: The gamma-ray detection system 1 comprises an internal detection means 2 which detects gamma rays originating from the fuel compact 3 containing uranium and is placed in a hollow part of the fuel compact 3 and an external detection means 5 which is placed outside the fuel compact. Gamma rays originating from the hollow part 4 are measured by the internal detection means 2 which is placed in the hollow part 4 of the fuel compact 3 containing uranium and detects gamma rays originating from the fuel compact 3. Gamma rays originating from the outer surface of the fuel compact 3 are measured by the external detection means 5 which is placed outside the fuel compact 3 and detects gamma rays originating from the fuel compact 3. The total amount of gamma rays originating from the fuel compact 3 are detected through the gamma rays originating from the hollow part 4 and the gamma rays originating from the outer surface.
