PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a name solving system capable of using a plurality of name spaces and name solving mechanisms differently and flexibly corresponding to a ubiquitous service.;SOLUTION: A mediation device 701 is connected between a user terminal 501 and a plurality of name solving mechanisms through a network 100. When the mediation device 701 receives a name solution request sent from the user terminal, the mediation device 701 retrieves a name solving mechanism relating to resource identification information of the received name solution request and transfers the name solution request to an entry point of the obtained name solving mechanism. The entry point that has received the name solution request transfers the name solution request to a resolver included in the name solving mechanism. The resolver of the name solving mechanism finds the address of a corresponding resource from name identification information designating the resource included in the name solution request, and transmits the obtained resource address to the mediation device through the entry point, and the mediation device transmits the resource address to the user terminal.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
