PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily inspect the quality of a code image by digitizing read errors in specific units with restored error correction code data and counting them, and indicating the counted numeral in specific form. ;SOLUTION: An image of one screen is picked up by an image pickup part and the marker 18 of a dot code 10 is removed from the read image. Image processing as to the presence of a pattern code 16 is performed with the center coordinates of the detected marker 18 to recognize a block 12 as part of the dot code 10, and the block address 20 of the recognized block is detected and stored in an RAM as an input-completion block address. Then dot array information showing whether or not dots detected in specific dot array order in a data area 14 are white or black is restored as error correction code data.
