PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information inputting and outputting/selecting method or the like with which operation can be easily performed by a user while using image processing without necessity to be directly conscious of a hardware. SOLUTION: A CCD camera 11 picks up the images of an input sheet 13 showing the index of contents stored in a work station 15 and the finger of the user to select this index. A control box 14 finds the gradation value of the input sheet 13 and finds the threshold value of a differential image between these input sheet 13 and finger. Based on this threshold value, the shape of the finger is extracted and from the extracted shape, the tip area of the finger is fixed. Then, contents corresponding to the index instructed by this tip area are provided by a viewer 10.
