PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonwoven fabric-style activated carbon fiber having low pressure loss by using a cellulosic fiber to a precursor raw material of the activated carbon fiber and a method for producing the fiber.;SOLUTION: An adsorbent having low pressure loss can be provided and adjustment of bulk density become unnecessary when forming an activated carbon fiber laminated product by processing the cellulosic fiber having a large fineness with a needle punch. Thereby, the activated carbon fiber when processed can be prevented from falling and dispersing. Furthermore, properties having low pressure loss thereof can be utilized, reduce a running cost and contribute to an energy saving by being installed to a gas treating equipment capable of efficiently adsorbing and collecting organic solvents included in the air and having adverse effects on the human body.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
