PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To arbitrarily switch a system to an upstream side and a low stream side with one incorporated terminal station device by providing an optical connector receptacle which can insert the optical connector plug of two cores into any direction for the terminal station device. ;SOLUTION: Since same structures are used for optical connector plugs PL1 and PL2 fitted to both ends of a portable optical cable 16A, the optical fiber FL1 or FL2 of the portable optical cable 16A of two cores is connected to an upstream side branch terminal 13A and the other to a down stream side branch terminal 13B without fail even if the optical connector plug inserted into the optical receptacle 12 is PL1 and PL2. Thus, one transmission/reception circuit can be connected to the upstream side or the down stream side of the optical fiber network 11. Consequently, communication can be realized with a master machine 10 connected to the upstream side of the optical fiber network 11, or the master machine 10 connected to the terminal station device or the down stream side or the terminal station device.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
