PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an all light type serial-to-parallel converting circuit in which the degradation of S/N ratios is low.;SOLUTION: In the all light type serial-to-parallel converting circuit, time division multiplexed signal light pulses in which low order group signal channels from a channel 1 to a channel N are time division-multiplexed and which has an optical frequency νs are inputted to an optical multiplexer 5 via a light amplifier 8. A local light source 7 generates a local chirp clock light having the same repetitions as those of respective lower order group signal channels of the signal light pulses and linear up-chirps whose optical frequencies are linearly increased from top end part to the rear end part. Respective lower order group signal channels #1 to #N of the signal light pulses and parts having the optical frequencies ν1 to νN of the local chirp clock light are multiplexed in the optical multiplexer 5 by being made to be in synchronization so that they are overlapped respectively on a time base to be guided to a nonlinear optical medium 3. The local chirp clock light receives shifts of the optical frequency due to mutual phase modulation by the time division multiplexed signal light pulses. The local chirp clock light passed through the nonlinear optical medium 3 is separated and outputted to output ports corresponding to respective wavelengths in an optical demultiplexer 6.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
