PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a purification method to provide high-purity octafluoropropane by using an absorbent capable of removing impurities included in a crude octafluoropropane, and further to provide a production method, the high-purity octafluoropropane and an application of the octafluoropropane.;SOLUTION: The octafluoropropane is purified by using the absorbent capable of being produced by carrying out (1) a step for subjecting a raw material coal to an acid washing treatment and a water-washing treatment, (2) a step for carrying out the deoxygenation and/or dehydration of the washed raw material coal, (3) a step for subjecting the resultant raw material coal to re- carbonizing treatment within a temperature range of 500-700°C, and (4) a step for activating the obtained raw material carbon in a mixed gas flow comprising an inert gas, carbon dioxide and steam within a temperature range of 700-900°C.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
