PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound which is useful as a raw material for polybenzbisoxazole capable of being processed into a fiber having high strength and high elastic modulus, and which has extremely improved safety by compounding a specific reducing agent in a specific amount. ;SOLUTION: This compound is obtained by homogeneously spraying, by using a sprayer, a reducing agent [e.g. tin (II) chloride or its hydrochloric acid solutionl having a standard oxidation-reduction potential of ≥-0.20 volt and ≤0.34 volt to 4,6-diaminoresorcinol 2 hydrochloric acid salt, which has been synthesized, for example, by a known method, and subsequently drying under reduced pressure by heating and stirring at temperatures of 40-100°C in a dryer to obtain the objective compound containing the reducing agent in an amount of ≤100-10,000 ppm. By reacting with an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, the compound can give polybenzbisoxazole, which can be molded especially into a form of fiber or film.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
