PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a time for calculation and to find desired directivity by including a step for expressing plural binary variables corresponding to the thinning state of an element by one multivalue variable in the gene expression of a genetic algorithm.;SOLUTION: In order to find the adaptive value of some individual, it is necessary to find the directivity of an array antenna corresponding to thee individual. For example, a complex electric field which is generated at an observing point (x) by an I-numbered element is set to be Ei (x) to find contribution at an observing point (x) by a gene '5' on the right end of an individual (Ci) having genetic information of '10 2 6...5'.
