PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wet dispersion treatment method to produce a fluophor, sufficiently resistant to deterioration of luminance and useful for cathode ray lamps, fluorescent lamps or the like, which allows the fluophor to be well dispersed by mechanically dispersing it in a specific quantity or more of liquid dispersive medium having a specific intrinsic density. ;SOLUTION: This fluophor, e.g. sulfide-based one, is obtained by a mechanical dispersion treatment method, which comprises (A) suspension of the fluophor in a solvent, e.g. water, to prepare the slurry, (B) addition of a dispersant or the like to the slurry, as required, (C) addition of a medium (preferably of ceramic or resin) having an intrinsic density of 1 to 2.2 in a quantity at least 50 wt.% of the total media to the slurry, and (D) mechanically dispersing the dispersion-treated fluophor slurry in a dispersion container of a media mill, wherein the dispersion container is filled with the total media preferably to 50 to 90 vol.%.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
