PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing a hydrogenated fullerene as a hydrogen storage material.;SOLUTION: A method for conversion of a fullerene comprises converting C60 fullerene to a hydrogenated fullerene by using a catalyst obtained by impregnating either one of ruthenium, palladium, iridium, platinum and cobalt in an active alumina and making either one of these metals supported on the active alumina. This method for producing the hydrogenated fullerene comprises converting the fullerene to C60H18 or C60H36 in high efficiency under mild hydrogenation conditions by utilizing conversion reaction of the fullerene by the catalyst obtained by impregnating either one of ruthenium, palladium, iridium, platinum and cobalt in the active alumina and making either one of these metals supported on the active alumina.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
