PURPOSE: To obtain an antistatic agent excellent in compatibility with a synthetic resin, imparting the synthetic resin with stable antistatic effect for a long time and capable of exhibiting excellent initial antistatic effect directly after molding by compounding an ester between an alkanolamine and a higher fatty acid with an amide formed between an alkanolamine and a higher fatty acid in a specific ratio. ;CONSTITUTION: This antistatic agent is obtained by compounding an ester between an alkanol amine (preferably, monoethanolamine, diethanolamine or aminoethylethanolamine) and an 8-18C fatty acid (e.g. caprylic acid or palmitic acid) with an formed between an alkanolamine and an 8-18C fatty acid in a weight ratio of 1:99 to 20:80.
